In 1989, Shelly Lares signed her first record deal with San Antonio-based Manny Records and released numerous hit albums including “Tu Solo Tu”, (1989), “Dynamite” (1990), “Sabes Que Si” (1991), “Tejano Star” (1992), “Greatest Hits” (1992), “Apaga La Luz” (1993), and “Quiero Ser Tu Amante” (1994). In 1995, Shelly signed with Sony Discos where she produced 5 cd’s and toured extensively across the US until signing with Tejas Records in 2000. Today, Shelly Lares continues to record and tour the world and over the years she has recorded with and performed on the same stage with Vince Gill , and Rock-a-billy legend, Carl Perkins. “Touring is part of my life so I’m used to it”, she says. "I’ve never known anything different”. So for the last two decades, Shelly has been able to handle all the challenges of a music career, while keeping fans happy with her upbeat, feel-good music and her friendly nature. Shelly Lares has taken her music, energy and talent all over the world. She has traveled to far away places like Guam, Korea, Japan and Alaska.
Year after year her fans and peers in the Tejano Music Industry have honored Shelly with numerous awards in recognition of her accomplishments. Since 1984, Shelly Lares has been nominated for an award every consecutive year at the annual Tejano Music Awards, an amazing feat by any standards! Awards categories include Female Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year, Single of the Year, Vocal duo of the Year, Album of the Year, and Tejano Country Song of the Year. In addition to her TTMA Awards accolades, Shelly received a Grammy nomination in 2006 for her work with the Latin Super group “Las 3 Divas” The Latin Music Awards has also given her the nod as well as the “Pura Vida Music Awards. Shelly was inducted into the Tejano Hall of Fame in 2008, making her the youngest member to date. Shelly has been presented with numerous “Key to the City” and including recognition for her unselfish contributions to the community.
